CHICAGO — Jacobson Executive Search has placed Steven L. Nyberg as Chief Operating Officer for Canal Insurance Group in Greenville, S.C. This announcement brings an end to the nationwide search undertaken by the Chicago-based national executive search firm serving the insurance, healthcare and financial services industries on behalf of the leading writer of commercial automobile coverage.
Reporting directly to Canal’s President and CEO, Chuck Timmons, Nyberg will supervise the daily operations of the Ward’s Top 50 property and casualty insurer. Additionally, Nyberg will play an active role in the company’s strategic planning process.
Nyberg brings more than 20 years of insurance industry experience to his new role at Canal. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Personal Lines for Republic Group Insurance Companies. His career also includes executive tenures with Hanover Insurance Group and MetLife Insurance Company. Nyberg earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oregon State University at Corvallis. He participated in the Wharton School of Business Advanced Executive Education Program in Philadelphia, Penn., and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
