Government Entities Mutual, Inc. Announces Selection of New Chief Executive Officer

December 22, 2015
CHICAGO –Government Entities Mutual, Inc (GEM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Halsall as chief executive officer. The search was conducted by the executive search and selection practice of The Jacobson Group. Greg Jacobson, co-chief executive officer of Jacobson, led this successful engagement.

“Andrew is a strategic visionary, one with a wealth of industry knowledge and demonstrated business acumen,” said Dean Boes, chairman of the GEM board. “The Board is confident that his leadership will take GEM to the next level.”

In his new role, Halsall will develop and execute strategies to realize GEM’s vision for growth and sustained financial strength. Halsall will also provide leadership to all organizational functions and ensure that their activities are in the best interest of its members.

“Andrew’s experience in the captive management space coupled with his successful track record of building and implementing strategic business plans will undoubtedly prove a valuable asset to GEM,” said Jacobson.

Halsall most recently served as chief of staff and reinsurance restructuring officer for American International Group, as well as in leadership roles with KPMG and Marsh & McLennan. Andrew has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry—both domestically and internationally—where he gained extensive knowledge and proficiency in establishing reinsurance strategy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in risk management from Glasgow Calendonian University in Glasgow, UK, and has earned the Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Fellow of Institute of Risk Management designations.

“This is an exciting time for GEM,” said Halsall, “and I am looking forward to helping execute its vision for the future.”
