Jacobson Shares Strategies for Managing Your Actuarial Career

CHICAGO - From the growing actuarial talent gap to the emergence of new industry roles, a number of hot trends are changing the landscape of the actuarial arena and will have a significant impact on young professionals entering the workforce. How can this generation prepare to move forward in their insurance careers? Kylee Lacson, assistant vice president for Jacobson’s life and disability subject matter experts team, will answer this question and more at the upcoming Society of Actuaries (SOA) Candidate Connect Chicago. The presentation, “Kick Start Your Actuarial Career: Insights and Strategies from an Industry Insider,” is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Friday, May 20.

“Today’s actuaries are facing a rapidly evolving labor market,” said Lacson. “There are a number of emerging areas and hot skills that graduates and young professionals need to be aware of in order to successfully compete in a changing industry.”

The session will feature insider insights on how young professionals and students can prepare for the ever-changing insurance job market. Topics covered will include resume and interview trends, insights into in-demand skills and competencies, and advice on updating your personal brand and utilizing social media to be more attractive to potential employers.

As assistant vice president for Jacobson’s life and disability subject matter experts team, Lacson provides organizations access to professionals with functional expertise and consultant-level talent for special projects and short-term needs in accounting, actuarial, claims, compliance, marketing, risk management, technology and underwriting. Active in the insurance industry, Lacson has earned her Associate, Life Management Institute and LOMA’s Associate, Customer Service designations and is currently pursuing her Fellow, Life Management Institute designation.
