The Governing Board of ICRB Announces New President

INDIANAPOLIS – The Governing Board of the Indiana Compensation Rating Bureau (ICRB) is pleased to announce that Karen Byrd has been hired to succeed Ron Cooper as President. Karen will join the ICRB on April 1, 2019, as President-Elect and work with Ron until his retirement late in May.

The ICRB completed a nationwide search by a committee of ICRB Board members and The Jacobson Group.

Karen brings to the ICRB a distinguished career in the workers compensation industry. She has served as Managing Director, Member Services at the Workers Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California. Prior to this position, she served as Director, Workers Compensation Operations at the North Carolina Rate Bureau. Earlier in her career, she held roles with Kemper, Unigard Insurance Company, The PMA Group, and Key Risk Management Services.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Communications from Wingate University in North Carolina. She’s been active in the Workers Compensation Insurance Organizations (WCIO) and is a member of the American Cooperative Council on Compensation Technology (ACCCT), the Compensation Data Exchange (CDX), and Spectrum Partners. Karen has also participated on several NCCI committees and task groups.

The ICRB Governing Board wishes to express our sincere appreciation to Ron Cooper for his leadership of the ICRB. Ron is highly regarded in the workers compensation industry. His professionalism and integrity have served the member companies and the workers compensation market of the state of Indiana well. Ron is a servant leader whose tireless dedication and sterling reputation in the workers compensation community are hallmarks of his career. We appreciate everything Ron has done for the Indiana workers compensation industry for the past four decades and wish him the best in his retirement years.
