A Rich History Focused on Insurance

Our family-owned firm traces its roots back to 1971 when the late David Jacobson, an underwriter and father of our current CEOs, Greg and Rick Jacobson, laid the foundation for what would later become known as The Jacobson Group. Originally a professional recruiting firm focused exclusively on the insurance sector, we have continually evolved and expanded to meet the dynamic needs of the insurance industry, earning a reputation as the nation’s most highly regarded insurance executive search and staffing firm.

Initially established as Jacobson Associates, the firm demonstrated the same dedication to delivering top industry professionals, exceptional service and unparalleled expertise we do today. We quickly earned intense loyalty from our clients and gained industry-wide recognition. As our clients sought a greater range of insurance talent solutions to address their evolving human capital challenges, we recognized the need for additional talent solutions.

We founded Insurance Staffers in 1993 to meet the overwhelming demand for insurance-specific temporary and temporary-to-hire professionals. Confronted with a tight and increasingly costly labor market and frustrated by the inability of clerical firms to provide qualified candidates, clients overwhelmingly turned to us for top-tier insurance professionals. From there, we rapidly expanded our offerings to include specialized interim experts and project teams.

Evolving to Meet the Insurance Industry’s Dynamic Talent Needs

Recognizing the need for specialized insurance expertise in executive search engagements, Jacobson made a pivotal move in 2000 with the launch of its executive search and selection practice. This provided the industry with a more consultative approach to acquiring senior-level insurance talent for their C-Level and Board positions. Led by seasoned industry leaders, a dedicated team still focuses exclusively on insurance executive search consultancy today.

In 2003, Insurance Staffers underwent a significant transformation in response to a demand for more comprehensive staffing solutions. Emerging as Jacobson Solutions, this transition enabled us to expand the scope of our temporary talent solutions to address a variety of workload management and critical business needs on an individual and volume basis across all functional areas and organizational levels.

As the industry sought a more streamlined approach to managing staffing partners and maximizing cost efficiencies, a trend toward centralizing contingent labor programs emerged. Some organizations opted to leverage third-party managed service providers or vendor management systems to handle their temporary staffing requisitions. Other high-volume organizations managed contingent labor programs that had long been a part of Jacobson’s business model.

In 2018, we created a dedicated team to support MSP and master vendor programs. This allowed us to successfully bridge the insurance gap that most of our clients were experiencing in their programs, ensuring they received the right talent for their insurance-specific contingent workforce needs.
